Spring fever is on as temperatures soar into the 70s and 80s statewide under gorgeous sunny skies. The next couple of mornings watch for patchy to dense fog, but otherwise our weather pattern is settled with above average warmth most of the week.

1. Judge blocks Trump immigration policy allowing arrests in churches for some religious groups

A federal judge on Monday blocked immigration agents from conducting enforcement operations in houses of worship for Quakers and a handful of other religious groups.

U.S. District Judge Theodore Chang found that the Trump administration policy could violate their religious freedom and should be blocked while a lawsuit challenging it plays out.

2. Texas Lottery commissioner resigns amid controversy over lottery courier services

Texas Lottery Commissioner Clark Smith has resigned amid scrutiny over the department and a push by state lawmakers to ban the use of lottery courier services.

Smith was appointed to the commission in 2023, and his term would have expired on Feb. 1, 2029. The commission comprises four commissioners and a chair. Smith’s resignation follows some controversial jackpot wins in recent years.

3. Austin man sues Delta for injuries sustained in Toronto plane crash

An Austin man is suing Delta Air Lines for injuries he sustained in a plane crash on Feb. 17 at the Toronto Pearson International Airport in Ontario.

The plane carrying 76 passengers and four crew members was traveling from Minneapolis and attempted to land at the Toronto airport around 2 p.m. when it flipped upon arrival. A total of 18 people were injured.

4. Canada House withdraws from South by Southwest amid tensions between the U.S. and Canada

Billboard Canada reports that the Canadian Independent Music Association has called off its Canada House event at South by Southwest due to escalating political and economic issues between Canada and the U.S.

Canadian imports will face a 25% tariff as of March 12. The implementation of tariffs overlaps with the South by Southwest festival (March 7-15).

Roberta Flack, Grammy-winning singer with an intimate style, dies at 88

Roberta Flack, the Grammy-winning singer and pianist whose intimate vocal and musical style on "Killing Me Softly," "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and other hits made her one of the top recordings artists of the 1970s and an influential performer long after, died Monday. She was 88.
